On Saturday, March 28, 2026, in an atmosphere of deep emotion and national pride, events were held in Romania to celebrate the National Day of March 25. The event focused on honoring the Greek and Romanian heroes who sacrificed their lives in the battles of 1821, highlighting the unbreakable historical ties between the two peoples.
The event was organized by the Union of Greeks in Romania (Uniunea Elena Din Romania) and its President, Member of Parliament Mr. Dragoș-Gabriel Zisopol . In the presence of the Consul of Greece, Mr. Efthymios Fokas, a memorial service was held at the monument to Georgakis Olympios and the Sacred Soldiers, who sacrificed their lives in the heroic final battle of the Struggle in Moldovlahia.
This was followed by a wreath-laying ceremony and a particularly interesting guided tour by the Abbot of the historic Secu Monastery. The Rotary ICC Greece-Romania Inter-State Committee was represented by the President of the Romanian Section, rtn. Ciubuca Dumitru Sever, who affirmed that our cooperation is built on a solid foundation of history and mutual respect.
